Bizarre Plane Crash Injures Farm Workers, Kills Dozens of Cattle
USAgNet - 07/23/2018

A small vintage-style aircraft crashed into a barn near Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, on Friday afternoon, killing the pilot and about 50 head of young livestock. According to the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department, the plane was flown by a 50-year-old Michigan man who was en route to the EAA Airventure Show in Oshkosh when the accident happened.

Reports say an emergency call came in around 4:06 p.m., where Fire Chief Bob Kroeplien said he saw a big mushroom cloud of smoke and called for mutual aid. The barn was considered a total loss and the blaze reportedly spread to several other farm buildings before being contained.

Authorities also noted that two farm workers were injured in the mishap, but their condition was not immediately known.

The farm is owned by Chief Kroeplien's brother, who issued a statement expressing condolences to the pilot's family.

Federal aviation officials were already on the scene during the weekend to investigate the incident.
