December Tractor Sales Rose, While Combines Fell Slightly

According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturer's monthly "Flash Report," the sale of all tractors in the U.S. in December 2017, were up 18% compared to the same month last year.

Agri Marketing magazine reports that for the twelve months in 2017, a total of 220,546 tractors were sold which compares to 211,133 sold thru December 2016 representing a 5% increase for the year.

For the month, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (under 40 HP) were up 5% from last year, while 40 & under 100 HP were down 2%. Sales of 2-wheel drive 100+ HP were down 7%, while 4-wheel drive tractors were up 18%.

For the year, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (under 40 HP) are up 8% over last year, while 40 & under 100 HP were even. Sales of 2-wheel drive 100+ HP are down 8%, while 4-wheel drive tractors are up 5%.

Combine sales are down 3% for the month. Sales of combines for the year total 4,112 an increase of 4% from 2016.
