Kansas Harvest Progressing Ahead of 2017 Levels

For the week ending Sunday, there were 3.1 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 1 percent very short, 3 short, 71 adequate, and 25 surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies
rated 1 percent very short, 7 short, 80 adequate, and 12 surplus.
Winter wheat planted was 67 percent, near 63 last year, but behind 80 for the five-year average. Emerged was 53 percent, ahead of 39 last year, but near 56 average.
Corn harvested was 69 percent, ahead of 63 last year, but behind 75 average.
Soybean condition rated 4 percent very poor, 11 poor, 33 fair, 42 good, and 10 excellent. Soybeans dropping leaves was 93 percent, near 96 last year and 94 average. Harvested was 23 percent, well behind 53 last year and 51 average.
Sorghum condition rated 2 percent very poor, 5 poor, 24 fair, 54 good, and 15 excellent. Sorghum mature was 88 percent, near 85 last year, and equal to average. Harvested was 23 percent, near 22 last year, but behind 40 average.
Cotton condition rated 1 percent very poor, 4 poor, 35 fair, 53 good, and 7 excellent. Cotton bolls opening was 84 percent, near 85 last year and 80 average. Harvested was 3 percent, behind 9 last year, and near 7 average.
Sunflowers harvested was 25 percent, ahead of 15 last year, but near 27 average.
Pasture and range conditions rated 5 percent very poor, 11 poor, 34 fair, 44 good, and 6 excellent.
