Kansas Recognized as a Clean Energy Powerhouse
Kansas Ag Connection - 10/26/2021

Oct. 25-29 marks the nation's first American Clean Power Week. Kansas officials, energy, and business stakeholders are coming together to highlight the state's leadership in the nation's fastest-growing energy source.

Data from the American Clean Power Association notes that Kansas ranks second in the nation for share of all electricity generation from renewable energy at 44 percent. Kansas communities have seen nearly $55 million in local, state, and property tax investments and $13 billion in capital investment from renewable energy projects last year.

The Sunflower State currently has 7,359 megawatts of operating clean energy capacity, ranking the state fifth in the nation. With the right policies outlined in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Build Back Better reconciliation bills, Kansas will have immense opportunities to build on its strong renewable energy workforce and promote investment and business in the state.
