8 Percent of Kansas Corn in the Ground

For the week ending Sunday, there were 5.1 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 5% very short, 12% short, 77% adequate, and 6% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 6% very short, 18% short, 71% adequate, and 5% surplus.
Winter wheat condition rated 5% very poor, 11% poor, 29% fair, 46% good, and 9% excellent. Winter wheat jointed was 29%, near 32% last year and behind 36% for the five-year average.
Corn planted was 8%, near 5% last year and equal to average.
