Discover beauty - enter the RTK ranching photo contest

By Scout Nelson

The Ranchland Trust of Kansas (RTK) has launched its 13th annual photography contest, inviting both amateur and professional photographers to participate. The competition opens now and will accept entries until September 4.

This year's theme focuses on the natural beauty of Kansas' ranching and grazing lands, aligning with RTK's mission to preserve the state's ranching heritage and open spaces for future generations.

Participants can submit their photographs in various categories including landscapes, livestock, people, wildflowers, wildlife, and sunrise/sunset scenes. There is also an exclusive category for members of the Kansas Livestock Association (KLA).

The submissions will be evaluated by a distinguished panel featuring Kansas native Jim Richardson, a seasoned photographer with over 35 years of experience at National Geographic, alongside representatives from RTK and KLA. Richardson, along with his wife Kathy, showcases his photographic work at their Small World Gallery in Lindsborg.

Prizes for the winners of the contest will be generously provided by L’image, a local business in Wichita committed to supporting the arts. This contest not only highlights the picturesque landscapes and the daily life of Kansas' ranching but also encourages photographers to capture images that reflect the essence of ranchland conservation.
