The Kansas State Fair hosted a milestone this year as Agriland, the interactive agricultural education exhibit, celebrated its 30th anniversary. Located in the Pride of Kansas Building, Agriland has been a favorite stop for families and students, offering hands-on ways to learn about Kansas agriculture.
The Kansas Beef Council (KBC) once again played a central role in the celebration, proudly representing beef among 12 other commodity and agricultural groups. The exhibit aims to spark curiosity, connect people with food production, and highlight the value of agriculture in everyday life.
Visitors experienced agriculture through creative displays. Activities included milking a mechanical cow, exploring a soil tunnel, and climbing inside the cab of a gleaner. At the beef station, attendees discovered how cattle contribute not only to high-quality beef but also to a wide variety of by-products that are part of daily living.
“Having fun, educational resources available for youth helps spark curiosity, build trust and ensure beef is part of the conversation for years to come,” said KBC Director of Industry Relations Teagan Sturdy Milliken.
The exhibit also offered opportunities for visitors to ask questions about nutrition, sustainability, and the role of beef in Kansas agriculture. KBC staff and volunteers shared information about how beef cattle fit into the broader farming landscape, emphasizing the connection between producers and consumers.
By partnering through the beef checkoff program, KBC joined other organizations in making sure fairgoers left Agriland with a stronger understanding of where their food comes from and the importance of agriculture to Kansas communities.
For three decades, Agriland has been bridging the gap between farmers and the public. With support from groups like the Kansas Beef Council, the exhibit continues to engage, educate, and inspire new generations to appreciate the work behind producing food.
