K-State webinar teaches DIY hydroponics basics

By Scout Nelson

K-State’s Garden Hour Webinar Series invites you to brighten up your winter by learning to grow fresh produce indoors with hydroponics. Join Lane Wiens, Shawnee County Horticulture Agent, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., as he guides participants through the basics of home hydroponics.

This session will introduce the fundamentals of hydroponics, an innovative soil-free method of growing plants, ideal for producing fresh fruits and vegetables indoors all year. Wiens will cover different hydroponic systems and explain which crops thrive best in each system. Participants will also gain valuable DIY tips for creating their own home hydroponic setup.

Hosted by K-State’s Department of Horticulture and Natural Resources, in partnership with KSRE Johnson County, the webinar provides practical knowledge for anyone interested in sustainable, indoor food production.
