The 94th Kansas Junior Livestock Show (KJLS) will take place October,2-4,2026 at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson. One of the state's leading youth livestock events, it gives participants the opportunity to showcase their livestock projects, agricultural knowledge, and dedication to the industry.
This year, 887 exhibitors have entered a total of 2,236 animals. Entries include market steers, breeding heifers, market hogs, breeding gilts, market lambs, breeding ewes, market goats, and commercial does, highlighting strong participation from youth across Kansas.
In addition to livestock competition, KJLS recognizes student achievement through its scholarship program. The awards honor exhibitors who excel in academics, community service, and involvement in 4-H and FFA activities.
Since the scholarship program began in 1993, it has provided $597,550 to 411 exhibitors. Last year alone, 13 youth participants received a combined $20,000 in scholarships to support their educational goals.
The Kansas Livestock Foundation (KLF) Club Calf Sale will also be held on October,3,2026, as part of the event. The sale will feature steer and heifer prospects, with commission proceeds benefiting the KLF Youth in Agriculture Scholarship program.
KJLS continues to play an important role in developing future agricultural leaders. By combining livestock exhibitions, scholarship opportunities, and educational experiences, the event helps young people gain valuable skills that extend beyond the show ring.
