Kansas Offers Farm Transition Guidance

Kansas State University’s Department of Agricultural Economics, through its Office of Farm and Ranch Transition, is partnering with the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas to host two educational conferences focused on long term planning for agricultural operations. These events are designed to help families prepare for future ownership and management changes in a clear and practical way.

The Farm and Ranch Transition Conferences will take place on February 17 in Fort Scott and February 18 in Fredonia. Each conference will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., offering a full day of structured learning and discussion. The sessions are intended for families who want to better understand succession and estate planning while keeping their agricultural businesses stable and productive.

The conferences will focus on key transition topics such as planning timelines, business continuity, communication between generations, and managing financial and legal considerations.
