Kansas SCC Holds Public Meeting

By Scout Nelson

The State Conservation Commission (SCC) has announced its upcoming regular meeting to be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. This session will take place at the Kansas Agribusiness Retailers Association located at 816 SW Tyler St.Topeka, Kansas. Additionally, those unable to attend in person can join the meeting virtually, ensuring broad accessibility for all interested parties.

The SCC is composed of a diverse group of members, including five elected commissioners and four appointed members who represent significant agricultural and conservation bodies.

These include the Kansas State University Agriculture Experiment Station and Cooperative Extension Service, the Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA), and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.

This meeting is part of the SCC’s ongoing efforts to engage with the community and stakeholders in discussing and formulating strategies for the conservation and enhancement of Kansas' natural resources.

The KDA Division of Conservation works closely with the SCC to develop and implement policies and programs that support local governments and individuals in their conservation efforts.

The agenda for the meeting is comprehensive, addressing current conservation initiatives and future to safeguard the state’s renewable resources. The meeting is not only a platform for formal discussions but also an opportunity for public participation and engagement with state conservation leaders.

For those interested in attending or participating, detailed information about the meeting and access to the virtual link can be obtained by contacting the KDA–Division of Conservation at kda.doc@ks.gov or by calling 785-564-6620. This ensures that all participants have the necessary information to join the discussion on conservation practices that impact the state of Kansas and its agricultural community.

This open meeting underscores the SCC’s commitment to transparency and public involvement in environmental stewardship and resource management in Kansas.
