The Kansas Soil Health Alliance, along with No-Till on the Plains, the Kansas Grazing Lands Coalition, and the American Farmland Trust, will host a two-day grazing tour in southwest Kansas on August 11-12. The event is designed to help producers and land managers learn about grazing practices, soil health, and conservation strategies.
Participants will visit Lohrding 3 Bar Ranch, Lazy KT Ranch, and Wiltse Family Farms. The tour will provide opportunities to observe grazing systems, land stewardship practices, and real-world management techniques used by local operations.
The educational program will feature presentations from industry experts, including Kurt Dale, who will discuss custom grazing, and Robert Ellis, who will present economic case studies related to grazing in Kansas. Additional topics include managed grazing, wildlife management, and woody encroachment.
Tour activities will run from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on August 11 and from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on August 12. A $50 registration fee covers four meals, snacks, and educational materials.
Participants are responsible for their own lodging arrangements. The Best Western in Greensburg will serve as the departure and return location for the charter bus on both days.
