The Kansas Stockman and the Kansas Livestock Association (KLA) were recognized with multiple honors at the Livestock Publications Council (LPC) awards program held during the Ag Media Summit in St. Louis, Missouri. The awards highlighted excellence in agricultural journalism, photography, and communications.
Rachel Waggie, KLA Manager of Communications and Advertising, earned first place in the production/management category for an article published in the March 2025 issue of The Kansas Stockman. Freelance writer Macey Mueller also received honorable mention in the same category for her work featured in the November/December 2025 issue.
The publication received additional recognition when Editor Scarlett Madinger won second place in the commentary or essay category. Her award-winning column appeared in the September 2025 issue and showcased the strong editorial content produced by The Kansas Stockman.
Waggie also claimed first place in the feature photograph category for a photo published in the September 2025 issue. In addition, KLA earned second place for a feature video produced for its convention, demonstrating the organization’s success across multiple communication platforms.
During the awards luncheon, KLA member and Angus producer Mark Gardiner of Gardiner Angus Ranch was presented the LPC Headliner Award. The recognition honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the livestock industry.
Waggie received further recognition with the LPC Workhorse Award for her dedication and service to the livestock communications profession. She was also elected to the LPC Board of Directors, strengthening KLA’s representation within the organization.
