The State Conservation Commission (SCC) has announced its upcoming quarterly meeting and election of new members, which will take place during the Kansas Association of Conservation Districts (KACD) annual conference in Wichita later this month.
The SCC’s regular quarterly meeting is scheduled for Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Wichita, located at 400 W Waterman Street. The session will include updates on ongoing conservation efforts, program reviews, and policy discussions.
On Monday, November 24, three positions on the State Conservation Commission will be filled through elections during the KACD annual conference, also at the Hyatt Regency Wichita. Nominations for qualified candidates will be accepted at regional caucus meetings representing areas I, III, and V, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
The SCC operates as a policy advisory board within the Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA). Its mission is to support the Secretary of Agriculture and the Division of Conservation (KDA–DOC) in developing policies, guidelines, and programs that protect and enhance Kansas’s natural resources.
Five commission members are elected by local conservation district supervisors, while additional appointed members represent Kansas State University, the Kansas Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Together, the SCC and KDA–DOC collaborate to promote soil and water conservation, ensuring Kansas maintains sustainable agricultural and environmental practices.
The meeting is open to the public, and interested individuals can request the meeting agenda or additional information by contacting the KDA–DOC at kda.doc@ks.gov or by phone at 785-564-6620. Those requiring special accommodation should make their needs known at least 24 hours before the meeting.
