Kansas Wheat and K-State Research and Extension will host two free Wheat Rx educational programs this August, providing wheat producers with the latest research-based recommendations for the upcoming winter wheat season. The events will take place on August 12 in Hays and August 13 in Wichita.
The program will open with information on a new National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) grant project aimed at increasing participation in conservation programs across Kansas wheat acres. Attendees will learn about opportunities to adopt conservation practices that support soil health, water management and long-term farm sustainability.
The agenda will also focus on improving wheat profitability and production efficiency. Researchers will share the latest findings on profitable wheat management, on-farm decision-making and precision agriculture strategies that can help growers optimize inputs, improve yields and increase returns.
Participants will receive updated guidance on wheat disease management, including practical recommendations to protect grain quality and yield throughout the growing season. The sessions are designed to provide growers with actionable, research-backed management strategies.
Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) continuing education credits will be available in several categories, including Soil & Water, Crop Production, Nutrient Management, Pest Management and 1A. The events are free to attend and include refreshments and lunch.
The Hays program will be held at the LB Event Center, while the Wichita event will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Airport Wichita and will also be available via livestream. Registration is encouraged, and additional details are available at kswheat.com/wheat-rx-registration.
