KLA Announces Election Candidate Endorsements

By Scout Nelson

The Kansas Livestock Association (KLA) has released its list of endorsed candidates for the upcoming elections. The endorsements were approved by the KLA Political Action Council (PAC) and the KLA Board of Directors after reviewing candidate records and gathering input from association members.

The complete list of endorsed candidates is available on the KLA website.

KLA plays an important role in representing the interests of Kansas farmers, ranchers, and livestock producers. When selecting candidates for endorsement, the organization considers whether candidates understand agriculture-related issues and have demonstrated support for policies that benefit Kansas agriculture and the livestock sector.

Member feedback is a key factor in the endorsement process. The association gathers opinions from its members to better understand which candidates align with the priorities and concerns of livestock producers across the state. This helps ensure that endorsements reflect the interests of the agricultural community.

The current endorsements for congressional races apply to both the August 2 primary election and the November 3 general election. These endorsements are intended to inform members and encourage support for candidates who have a proven record of backing agricultural interests.

In addition, KLA has announced endorsements for candidates running seats in the Kansas House of Representatives and the Kansas Senate. However, the current list includes only candidates who are involved in contested primary races. Following the primary election, KLA PAC members will meet again to review the election results and discuss recommendations for the general election.

Those recommendations will then be submitted to the KLA Board of Directors for final approval before the general election campaign begins. This step-by-step process allows the organization to carefully evaluate candidates and provide guidance to members throughout the election season.

KLA encourages its members to participate in the endorsement process by sharing their opinions and asking questions about candidates. Members can contact KLA staff with feedback regarding races and endorsements.

The association also emphasized that all contributions made through KLA PAC come from voluntary donations provided by members. No membership dues are used to support political contributions. This approach ensures that political activities are funded solely by individuals who choose to contribute to the PAC.

Through these endorsements, KLA aims to support candidates who understand the importance of agriculture, rural communities, and the livestock industry in Kansas.
