CDBG was enacted in 1974 under the Housing and Community Development Act. It remains one of the most important resources for state and local governments and their partners. The goal of CDBG is devising a flexible solutions to meeting community
development needs and providing a superb quality of life in Kansas communities.
The CBDG program provides grants to more than 1,200 state and local governments and funds activities such as, housing rehabilitation, business assistance and infrastructure. These activities are primarily targeted to low-income and moderate income persons
In 2016, the state of Kansas Department of Commerce CDBG program awarded more than $8.95 million to communities across the state and leveraged $18.72 million in other public and private capital.
