K-State Western Kansas Field Days Set for August 25-27

Kansas State University will host its Western Kansas Research-Extension Centers (WKREC) Field Days from Aug. 25-27 in Garden City, Hays, and Tribune. The events will give producers, crop advisers, and agricultural professionals an opportunity to learn about current research and production practices.

K-State's research stations in western Kansas have supported agricultural innovation for more than a century. The facilities in Hays, Garden City, and Tribune focus on addressing challenges related to regional soils, climate conditions, and water management.

Field day participants will hear about both long-term and emerging agricultural research projects. Topics include tillage practices, weed management, crop production, irrigation strategies, and other studies aimed at improving farm productivity and sustainability.

Researchers are also evaluating cotton production methods in southwest Kansas, including variety performance and irrigation management. Additional studies are examining the potential benefits of biostimulants in dryland grain sorghum production.

The field days will feature presentations on weed control, water and nutrient management, forage and livestock production, crop protection, soil health, and precision agriculture technologies. Attendees will have the opportunity to review research findings and discuss management practices with K-State specialists.
