Chris Tanner, a Kansas farmer and Treasurer of the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG), has been appointed to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Federal Advisory Committee (FRRCC). The committee provides policy recommendations on environmental issues affecting agriculture and rural communities.
The FRRCC helps the EPA understand the challenges and opportunities facing farmers while developing environmental policies. Its members contribute practical, on-the-ground perspectives to support informed decision-making.
As an experienced wheat producer, Tanner brings knowledge of farm management, conservation practices, and rural issues. His appointment ensures that wheat growers will be represented in discussions related to environmental regulations and agricultural sustainability.
NAWG welcomed the appointment and expressed confidence in Tanner’s ability to represent the interests of wheat farmers. The organization noted that his agricultural experience will help provide valuable input on issues affecting rural America.
The appointment reflects EPA’s efforts to include agricultural stakeholders in policy discussions. By working with experienced producers, the agency can better understand the needs of farmers and rural communities.
