KSHSAA Partnership Expands Sports Nutrition for Athletes

KSHSAA Partnership Expands Sports Nutrition for Athletes

By Scout Nelson

The Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) has partnered with the Kansas Beef Council (KBC), naming KBC the Official Protein Sponsor of Kansas High School Athletics. The collaboration aims to support student-athletes through nutrition education while highlighting beef's role in performance and recovery.

As part of the agreement, KBC will serve as the official protein sponsor at KSHSAA state championship events and the lead sponsor of the state cross country and wrestling championships. The partnership is expected to reach nearly one million fans annually.

A key element of the initiative is the Sports Nutrition Game Plan, a free online resource funded by the beef checkoff and developed by a registered dietitian. The program provides science-based information to help student-athletes make informed nutrition choices that support training and recovery.

The platform includes videos, recipes, meal-planning tools, hydration guidance, and sports nutrition resources. It also promotes beef as a high-quality protein source that can help support muscle growth, strength, and post-exercise recovery.

More than 140 coaches and athletic trainers across Kansas have already enrolled in the program, reflecting growing interest in sports nutrition education. The resource is designed to help athletes develop healthy eating habits that contribute to both athletic performance and overall wellness.

To expand awareness, the partnership will be promoted through digital campaigns, social media outreach, and event-based activities. These efforts aim to increase access to reliable nutrition information for student-athletes, coaches, and families throughout Kansas.
