Marshall Visits Cargill and Flickner Farms

By Scout Nelson

To mark National Agriculture Day, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D., of Kansas visited several key agricultural locations across the state on Tuesday. His stops included Tractor Supply in Eureka, Flickner Innovation Farm in Moundridge, and the Cargill Innovation Center in Wichita. At each site, Senator Marshall met with employees, researchers, and local farmers to discuss important issues impacting the agricultural industry.

“National Agriculture Day serves as a platform to recognize the amazing contributions of our farmers and ranchers who work tirelessly to keep America supplied with nutritious food and critically important resources like biofuels,” said Senator Marshall. “The United States has the safest, most affordable, and most available real food supply on earth — and it’s not even close. I will always fight to advance Kansas’ agricultural priorities, support our farmers and ranchers, and strengthen our food supply.”

At the Tractor Supply store in Eureka, Senator Marshall learned about the company’s efforts to improve rural connectivity, including initiatives to expand access to rural broadband. Tractor Supply is known as the country’s largest rural lifestyle retailer, serving communities across the U.S.

The visit to Flickner Innovation Farm offered a closer look at new irrigation techniques and research on soil and water health. Discussions focused on fertilizer application systems, liming practices, and monitoring nitrate levels in groundwater. The farm, which also participates in the NASA Farm Innovation Ambassador Team program, operates as both a working farm and a research site dedicated to sustainable farming practices.

At the Cargill Innovation Center in Wichita, Senator Marshall toured the advanced facility, which spans 75,000 square feet and includes USDA-inspected labs and testing areas. He met with Cargill staff to discuss advancements in food safety, product quality, and the company’s role in global food production. Cargill is a long-standing agribusiness leader, offering food and industrial products worldwide.

Through these visits, Senator Marshall reaffirmed his support for Kansas agriculture and recognized the innovation and hard work driving the industry forward.
