Registration Opens for KLA Legislative Meeting

By Scout Nelson

Registration is now open for the Kansas Livestock Association Legislative Meeting and Dinner, scheduled for February 17 at the Townsite Tower in Topeka. All meetings and meals during the day will be held at this single location, making it convenient for attendees.

The event will begin with a complimentary lunch at 11:30 a.m. The lunch is sponsored by Equity Bank and KLA Environmental Services. Following lunch, the formal legislative meeting will start at 1:00 p.m.

During the afternoon session, KLA’s lobbying team will provide an overview and analysis of bills currently under consideration in the Kansas Legislature. Members will have the opportunity to review these bills, discuss key issues, and take official positions. This process helps guide KLA staff as they represent member interests throughout the legislative session.

The evening portion of the event will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a social hour and dinner attended by state legislators. All 165 members of the Kansas Legislature have been invited. Attendees are encouraged to sit with their local representatives or senators during dinner to discuss KLA policy positions and proposed legislation in an informal setting.

Participation in the lunch and legislative meeting is free for members. The cost to attend the dinner is $50 per person. Online registration details and hotel booking information are available through the Kansas Livestock Association website at https://www.kla.org. The deadline to reserve hotel rooms at the event rate is January 20.

Several parking options are available near Townsite Tower. Kansas Avenue offers free street parking during business hours with a two-hour limit, while nearby side streets provide free or metered parking. A free parking lot is available at Kansas Avenue and 4th Street, which is one block from the venue and suitable for larger vehicles.

Additional paid parking is available at the Townsite Plaza Garage, accessible from 6th Street, and the Townsite Tower Garage on Kansas Avenue. More events and logistical details can be found at https://www.kla.org/events.
