Over $29,000 for Anderson Co. Community Infrastructure
Kansas Ag Connection - 10/22/2020

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development State Director for Kansas Lynne Hinrichsen announced that it is investing $29,700 for essential public safety infrastructure in Anderson County.

"Proper public safety training equipment is necessary so emergency service workers can provide essential emergency response services to the people of their community," Hinrichsen said. "Rural community fire departments rely on modern infrastructure to both protect themselves and the public."

Anderson County will use a $29,700 Community Facilities Grant to purchase an 8 x 40 foot, reinforced steel container which will be used to create simulated structure fires for training exercises. Anderson County, which provides public safety services for more than 8,100 people, will use the facility to train their 110 volunteer firefighters in handling structure fires and rescue techniques. This civic improvement is made possible with the county, contributing $55,300 of its own resources.
