The final Extension Master Gardener session will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participants may join online through Zoom or attend in person at 1615 Branch Street. This session is designed for individuals who enjoy gardening, value lifelong learning, and want to contribute to strong, healthy communities through horticulture education.
Extension Master Gardener volunteers are community educators who help support vibrant local environments by sharing gardening knowledge and promoting sustainable practices. Their work strengthens neighborhoods by helping people grow healthy plants, understand soil care, and support local food systems. The program welcomes individuals who are enthusiastic about gardening and want to help others learn.
This session offers an overview of what it means to become an Extension Master Gardener. Attendees will learn about training expectations, volunteer responsibilities, and opportunities to contribute to gardening programs in schools, neighborhoods, and community spaces. The program is part of the KSRE Meadowlark Extension and encourages participation from anyone interested in horticulture or community engagement.
Those who want more information or wish to apply can reach out to Laura at lauraphillips@ksu.edu or call 785-230-4028. A link is available for further details about the program, including application steps and volunteer requirements.
The Extension Master Gardener program emphasizes hands-on learning, community service, and environmental stewardship. Volunteers help teach workshops, answer gardening questions, assist with local events, and support projects that improve community green spaces. The program’s mission focuses on empowering families and individuals to cultivate healthy, sustainable environments.
Accessibility is also a priority. Both in-person and virtual participation allow a wider range of individuals to join. The session aims to offer clear guidance and helpful information to encourage new volunteers to become part of the Master Gardener community.
This event provides a meaningful opportunity for anyone interested in gardening education and community service to learn more and take the first step toward becoming an Extension Master Gardener.
