Kansas Beef Council Hosts BQA Training Sessions

Kansas Beef Council Hosts BQA Training Sessions

By Scout Nelson

Information shared by the Kansas Beef Council highlights several upcoming Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) training sessions that will begin this week in Kansas to help cattle producers learn important practices related to livestock care and beef quality.

Three in-person training programs are scheduled for March. These events will provide farmers, ranchers, and livestock managers with an opportunity to learn about proper cattle handling, animal health, and management practices that support high-quality beef production.

The first training session will take place on March 10 at the Washington Sales Pavilion. The second program will be held on March 12 at the Anderson Building on the Lyon County Fairgrounds in Emporia. The final session will take place on March 24 at Fort Scott Livestock.

Each program will begin with a complimentary meal at 6:00 p.m. After the meal, participants will attend the training session led by Kansas State University beef extension veterinarian A.J. Tarpoff. The educational presentation will focus on recommended practices that improve cattle care and support beef quality across the industry.

Beef Quality Assurance programs are designed to help producers follow responsible management practices when raising cattle. These programs focus on animal well-being, proper handling techniques, and safe production methods. By following these practices, producers can maintain consumer confidence and support a strong beef industry.

Training events such as these also allow producers to learn from experts and stay updated on current recommendations for livestock care. In addition, they offer an opportunity for producers to connect with other members of the cattle industry and discuss common challenges and solutions.

The upcoming sessions are free to attend, making them accessible to producers who want to improve their knowledge and management practices. However, organizers ask participants to register in advance so they can plan for meals and seating.

To register, participants should email their name, the number of guests attending, and the meeting location they plan to attend to kbc@kansasbeef.org. Registration can also be completed by calling the Kansas Beef Council office.

These educational programs continue to play an important role in supporting responsible cattle production and helping farmers maintain strong standards in the beef industry.
