Kansas Agriculture Boards Meet at State Fair

By Scout Nelson

The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) has announced that several of its advisory boards will hold meetings on Thursday, September 11, at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson. These boards provide input to guide the department’s work in key areas of agriculture and rural development. All meetings are open to the public.

The Kansas Board of Agriculture will meet from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Kansas State Fair Administrative Office Boardroom. Contact: Auburn Wassberg, Auburn.Wassberg@ks.gov or 785-564-6799.

The Kansas Board of Animal Health is scheduled to meet from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Prairie Pavilion conference room. Contact: Justin Smith, Justin.Smith@ks.gov or 785-564-6601.

The Kansas Marketing Advisory Board will also meet from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Prairie Pavilion conference room. Contact: Suzanne Ryan-Numrich, Suzanne.Numrich@ks.gov or 785-564-6704.

The State Conservation Commission will gather from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the upstairs meeting room of the Cottonwood Court building. Contact: Division of Conservation, KDA.DOC@ks.gov or 785-564-6620.

These advisory boards play an important role in helping shape agricultural policy and programs that affect Kansas producers, agribusinesses, and rural communities. They ensure that voices from across the industry contribute to decisions made at the state level.

Anyone with questions about the meetings can reach the Kansas Department of Agriculture on 785-564-6700. Those needing special accommodation are encouraged to notify KDA at least two days prior to the meeting to allow arrangements to be made.

By meeting at the Kansas State Fair, the department provides an opportunity for the public to participate in open discussions about issues vital to Kansas agriculture, conservation, and market development.
