Expanding horizons at k-state's diversity forum

By Scout Nelson

The College of Agriculture at Kansas State University is gearing up for its 14th Biannual Diversity Forum titled "Growing our Mindset," scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 6.  This event, set to take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Wildcat Chamber of the K-State Student Union.

The event offers both in-person and virtual attendance options, the latter requiring prior registration.

This forum is a collaborative effort led by student leadership groups including the K-State Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences (MANRRS) Chapter, the College of Agriculture Ambassadors, and the Ag Student Council.

They join forces with the College of Agriculture/KSRE Diversity Programs Office and the Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies to facilitate this important conversation.

Keynote speaker, John Niemann, a proud K-State alumnus and esteemed business leader, will share his valuable perspectives on the crucial role of diversity in enhancing workplace environments.  His experience and leadership promise to illuminate the benefits and necessities of cultivating diverse teams in agriculture and beyond.

The forum not only serves as a platform for enlightening discussions but also as a space for instructors to track student engagement for academic purposes. Interested faculty members are encouraged to reach out to Summer Santillana, the diversity programs coordinator, for attendance details.

As K-State continues to champion diversity initiatives, the community is encouraged to support and participate in these enriching events.
