March 1 marks a significant day for Kansas State University’s Department of Animal Sciences and Industry (ASI), as it hosts this year’s Cattlemen’s Day at Weber Hall in Manhattan. The event promises a day filled with valuable insights and updates for the beef industry.
K-State President Richard Linton is set to be the keynote speaker, sharing the university's future vision. He will be joined by ASI Department Head Mike Day, who will discuss the department's blend of honoring its past while forging ahead into the future. Ag economist Glynn Tonsor will provide a beef industry economic outlook.
The afternoon sessions will delve into a variety of relevant topics. These include updates on ASI beef research, insights into valuable beef cuts, a reproduction update, and the intersection of wildlife and ranching.
The event will kick off at 8:00 a.m. with refreshments, educational exhibits, and a trade show, followed by the morning program at 10:00. Attendees can enjoy an early registration fee of $25 by February 23, with on-site registration available for $35.00.
In the afternoon, the 47th Annual Legacy Bull & Female Sale is scheduled at the Stanley Stout Center, showcasing this year's prime offerings.
The Stockman of the Year honor will be awarded to Galen and Lori Fink of Randolph at the annual Stockmen’s Dinner, held the evening before the main event at the Stanley Stout Center. This special event requires separate registration.
This day serves as a cornerstone event for Kansas State University, highlighting its dedication to advancing the beef industry through education, research, and community engagement.
