K State Hosts 113th Cattlemen's Day Event

The 113th Cattlemen's Day will take place on March 6, 2026, at the Bilbrey Family Event Center in Manhattan, Kansas. The center is located next to the Stanley Stout Center at 2200 Denison Ave. This annual event brings together cattle producers, students, and industry leaders to discuss the latest research and trends in beef production.

The registration cost is $25 per person, and the deadline to register is February 20, 2026. After that date or at the door, the cost increases to $35 per person.

The tradeshow will run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Speaker sessions will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The program will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a welcome session.

  • At 9:15 a.m., Dr. Jamie Courter, University of Missouri Beef Extension Specialist, will present “Using genetic tools to select the next generation of females.”
  • At 10:00 a.m., Dr. Emma Briggs, K-State ASI Beef Systems Extension Specialist, and Dr. Mindy King, K-State ASI Assistant Professor, will discuss “Beef Cow Size and Heavier Carcass Weights: Implications for the Cow Herd and Feedlot Performance.”
  • Graduate student research updates will be presented at 10:45 a.m. and again at 1:45 p.m.
  • At 11:00 a.m., Dr. Glynn Tonsor, K-State Agriculture Economics Professor, will present the “Beef Industry Economic Outlook.”
  • At 1:00 p.m., Dr. Shannon Ferrell, OSU Agriculture Economics Professor, will discuss “Navigating Farm and Ranch Generational Transitions.”
  • The final session at 2:00 p.m. will cover “Update on Emerging Parasitic Diseases: New World Screwworm and Asian Longhorned Tick,” presented by Dr. Justin Smith, KDA Animal Health Commissioner, and Dr. Cassandra Olds, K-State Entomology Assistant Professor.

The event will provide valuable education and industry insights for the cattle community.

Presentations will cover important topics for the cattle industry. Experts will discuss the use of genetic tools to select future breeding females. Other sessions will examine beef cow size, carcass weights, and their impact on herd and feedlot performance. Graduate students will provide research updates during the morning and afternoon sessions.

An industry economic outlook session will provide insight into current market trends. After lunch, attendees will hear about farm and ranch generational transitions. The day will also include an update on emerging parasitic diseases such as New World Screwworm and Asian Longhorned Tick.

Lunch will feature smoked brisket compliments of U.S. Premium Beef. The event offers valuable education and networking for anyone involved in the cattle industry.
