K-State hosts talk on broadband solutions

K-State hosts talk on broadband solutions

By Scout Nelson

Reliable broadband access is essential for economic growth, education, and quality of life. Kansas State University (K-State) is taking a leading role in addressing broadband challenges by hosting discussions to develop a strategic connectivity plan.

Broadband connectivity is vital for multiple sectors. In agriculture, high-speed internet enables precision farming, allowing real-time crop monitoring and resource management. In healthcare, telemedicine relies on robust broadband infrastructure to connect rural patients with specialized medical services.

The university will host discussions to explore broadband’s impact across disciplines and identify collaborative opportunities.

“Broadband access and adoption are critical to the economic development, education, and healthcare of Kansas communities,” said Mirna Bonilla, Office of Engagement program manager. “By sharing our knowledge and expertise, we can identify opportunities for collaboration and develop a plan that leverages our collective strengths.”

Discussion Opportunities:

In-person session: January 14, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Flint Hills Room, K-State Student Union

Virtual session: January 22, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Registration is required for both sessions. K-State agents, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate and share perspectives on broadband-related initiatives.

These sessions aim to foster innovation and collaboration, addressing broadband challenges and supporting the economic and social development of Kansas communities. For registration and more details, visit the K-State website.
