Kansas State University's College of Agriculture is set to welcome high school students to the "Feeding Your Future 2024" summer youth camp. Scheduled for July 16-20, this innovative camp is designed to spark interest in agronomy, grain science, and food production careers among teenagers.
The initiative represents a collaborative effort between the agronomy and grain science and industry departments, aiming to highlight the college's degree programs and encourage future enrollment.
Up to 30 campers will enjoy an immersive learning experience on the Manhattan campus, participating in workshops that cover a wide range of topics including agronomy, milling science, bakery science, and feed and pet food science. The program is structured to offer hands-on learning opportunities, providing a real-world glimpse into the agricultural sciences.
A special career night will cap off the week, connecting the dots between the camp activities and the diverse career paths available in the fields of agronomy and grain science. This event will allow campers to envision their future in these dynamic sectors.
The College of Agriculture is actively seeking participants for this unique summer opportunity and is also accepting applications for student counselors. Interested parties are encouraged to reach out for more information and to apply.
The camp is hosted by the College of Agriculture Academic Programs Office, in close collaboration with the College of Agriculture and the K-State Research and Extension Diversity Programs Office.
