Laura Kelly has officially declared May as Beef Month in Kansas. The announcement highlighted the importance of the beef industry and recognizes the contributions of more than 22,000 producers across the state. The proclamation was signed on April 30, marking the beginning of a month focused on promoting beef and supporting the livestock sector.
Along with this declaration, the Kansas Beef Council has launched a statewide campaign to increase beef demand. This campaign comes during grilling season, which is one of the busiest times for beef purchases. To reach more consumers, the council has placed 13 billboards across Kansas. Most of these billboards are located along Interstate 70 to attract attention from daily commuters and families traveling during the summer months.
The billboard messages are designed to be engaging and fun. Examples include “Today’s Forecast: 96 Degrees with 100% Chance of Steaks,” “Classic for a Reason,” and “Kansas Beef: You’re Welcome.” These messages aim to encourage people to choose beef for their meals.
In addition to billboards, the council is launching two new video campaigns. These videos are created by the Beef It's What's for Dinner campaign and follow the theme “Here’s to Beef, the One That Does It All.” The videos will appear on platforms such as YouTube, Hulu, Disney+, Paramount+, and HBO Max. This wide reach helps promote beef to a larger audience.
The campaign also focuses on education. The videos highlight the versatility of beef in daily meals and show its value as a nutrient-rich source of protein. This helps consumers better understand the benefits of including beef in their diet.
To support these efforts, the council has launched a new website . The updated site offers improved navigation and useful information for both consumers and producers. It also highlights the families and communities involved in beef production.
This initiative shows Kansas’ strong commitment to promoting its beef industry and supporting agricultural growth.
