The State Conservation Commission will hold its regular public meeting on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Kansas Department of Agriculture office located at 1320 Research Park Drive in Manhattan, Kansas. Officials also announced that a virtual attendance option will be available for participants who cannot attend in person.
The State Conservation Commission plays an important role in helping protect and improve Kansas natural resources through conservation programs, policies, and partnerships. The commission works with state and federal agencies to support environmental management and encourage the responsible use of renewable resources across Kansas communities.
The SCC includes five elected commissioners along with two appointed representatives from the Kansas State University Agriculture Experiment Station and Cooperative Extension Service. The commission also includes appointed representatives from the Kansas Department of Agriculture and the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service.
The Kansas Department of Agriculture Division of Conservation works closely with the commission to develop and maintain programs designed to support local governments, landowners, and communities. These programs focus on protecting soil, water, and other important renewable natural resources throughout the state.
Officials stated that the meeting is a regularly scheduled board session and remains open to the public. Community members interested in conservation planning, environmental programs, and agricultural resource management are encouraged to attend either in person or virtually.
The meeting is expected to include discussions related to conservation guidelines, policy development, and ongoing environmental programs supporting Kansas communities. State officials believe these meetings help improve cooperation between agencies while encouraging long-term resource sustainability.
Organizers also noted that individuals requiring special accommodations should submit requests at least 24 hours before the meeting begins. This allows staff to provide appropriate support and assistance for participation.
Additional information about the meeting, including the virtual participation link and agenda requests, is available through the Kansas Department of Agriculture Division of Conservation.
For meeting details or accommodation requests, participants may contact the department by email at kda.doc@ks.gov or by phone at 785-564-6620.
