Applications for disaster relief funds through the Kansas Livestock Foundation (KLF) are set to close on May 8. This program is designed to support livestock producers who were affected by wildfires that moved across several counties in Kansas earlier this year. These fires caused serious damage to grazing land, fencing, and livestock, creating financial and operational challenges for many producers.
The disaster relief program provides an opportunity for affected producers to receive financial assistance to help recover from these losses. The application process is simple and focuses on collecting key information about the damage. Producers are asked to report the number of grazing acres that were burned, the extent of fencing damage, and any livestock losses they experienced. This information helps ensure that funds are distributed fairly and based on the level of impact.
One important aspect of this program is that applicants are not required to be members of the Kansas Livestock Association (KLA). This allows more producers to access support, especially those who may not be directly connected to the organization. The Kansas Livestock Foundation has established a trusted system for distributing donated funds in an equitable manner, ensuring that those affected receive appropriate assistance.
Producers who are eligible are encouraged to complete and submit their applications as soon as possible before the deadline. Missing the deadline could mean losing access to valuable support during recovery. The application form is available online and can be easily accessed through this link.
In addition to the online application, producers who need help or have questions can contact the Kansas Livestock Association directly by calling (785) 273-5115. Staff members are available to provide guidance and answer any questions related to the application process.
This disaster relief effort highlights the importance of community support in times of crisis. By offering timely financial assistance, the program helps livestock producers rebuild their operations and continue contributing to the agricultural economy.
