Kansas hosts trade mission for beef genetics

By Scout Nelson

The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) is actively recruiting participants for an outbound beef genetics trade mission to Hermosillo, Mexico, scheduled from November 4-8, 2024. This mission is organized in partnership with the International Brangus Breeders Association and the New Mexico Department of Agriculture.

Participants in this trade mission will have the unique opportunity to visit various ranches and agribusinesses within Mexico's beef sector. Additionally, the mission offers Kansas producers a valuable platform to network and promote U.S. beef genetics through an educational seminar and reception.

This opportunity is particularly beneficial for purebred cattle producers who are considering expanding their markets into Mexico.

KDA’s commitment to supporting agriculture extends to facilitating opportunities for producers to market and sell beef genetics both within the U.S. and internationally. The organization of this mission is supported by KDA’s membership in U.S. Livestock Genetics Export, Inc. (USLGE) and is funded by the USDA Market Access Program.

Producers interested in participating can apply by visiting agriculture.ks.gov/international or by contacting KDA’s international trade director, Suzanne Ryan-Numrich, at Suzanne.Numrich@ks.gov or 785-564-6704. The deadline for applications is Friday, September 6, 2024.
