KFB Members Lead Important Discussions

KFB Members Lead Important Discussions

By Scout Nelson

Kansas Farm Bureau members gathered to complete an important organizational business during the 107th Annual Meeting, with nearly 400 participants from across the state. The meeting served as a central event for setting direction, reviewing progress, and supporting programs that strengthen agriculture in Kansas.

Members discussed major issues and voted on policy positions that will help guide the organization during the 2026 legislative session. Topics included taxes, water policy, energy needs, and other challenges facing rural communities.

Delegates also elected and reelected representatives to help guide the organization in the coming year. Leadership committees confirmed chairs, and the board of directors welcomed members who will help shape priorities and outreach efforts.

Attendees heard from national and state leaders throughout the event. The keynote address was delivered by the president of the American Farm Bureau, who shared the importance of grassroots leadership and explained how member stories influence federal policy. A town hall session featured a U.S. Representative who discussed key issues affecting Kansas agriculture.

Throughout the meeting, members participated in workshops focused on water, energy, mental health, and other important agriculture-related topics. These sessions provided practical knowledge, encouraged problem-solving, and supported ongoing leadership development. Staff also delivered updates on policy issues affecting producers and explained how the organization is working to support agriculture statewide.

The annual meeting included recognition for County Farm Bureaus and volunteers who achieved notable results in 2025. These awards highlighted strong community involvement and leadership efforts across Kansas.

Two major fundraising events also contributed to important causes. A silent auction sponsored by the Women’s Leadership Committee raised more than $7,800 for mental health resources. The KFB Foundation for Agriculture hosted a themed fundraiser that raised over $20,500 to support the End Hunger campaign, helping address food needs in rural communities.

The 107th Annual Meeting showed strong engagement, collaboration, and dedication among members as they continue building a strong future for agriculture in Kansas.
