The Kansas Livestock Association (KLA) invites its members to the upcoming KLA Legislative Meeting and Dinner, scheduled for February 19 at the Townsite Tower in Topeka. This event provides a pivotal platform for members to influence legislative actions on specific bills currently under consideration in the Legislature.
The meeting will commence at 1:00 p.m. with a comprehensive review of proposed bills by KLA staff. Members will have the opportunity to deliberate and decide which bills to support or oppose. This decision-making process is crucial as it will shape KLA’s advocacy efforts and positions when members meet with their legislators later that evening.
The event not only focuses on legislative discussions but also offers a chance for networking and socializing. Starting at 6:00 p.m., a social and steak dinner will provide members with a more informal setting to discuss KLA’s positions with their respective legislators. The dinner is priced at $50 per person, offering both a valuable and enjoyable culmination to the day’s activities.
Additionally, members can enjoy a complimentary lunch sponsored by Equity Bank before the bill review session begins. The lunch will start at 11:30 a.m., offering a moment of relaxation and fellowship among members.
Parking options include a free lot located at the southwest corner of Kansas Avenue and Fourth Street and the Townsite Plaza Garage on Sixth Street, which costs $1.00 per hour before 5:00 p.m. After 5:00 p.m., parking becomes free. However, please note that the garage closes at 8:00 p.m. Additional parking is available in the Townsite Tower Garage, although space is limited before 5:00 p.m.
This legislative meeting is an essential event for KLA members who wish to actively participate in shaping the agricultural policy landscape. It’s an opportunity to make your voice heard and contribute to the decisions that impact the agricultural sector directly. To register, members can click the provided link or call the KLA office. Don’t miss out on this chance to engage directly with legislative processes and network with fellow agricultural professionals.
