The Kansas Livestock Association (KLA) ushers in a new leadership era with the appointment of Philip Weltmer as President and Troy Sander as President-elect. Weltmer, a third-generation rancher from Smith County, has a deep-rooted history in the ranching business.
His family's W & S Ranch, established in the 1950s, showcases a diversified livestock and farming operation. Weltmer’s dedication to the industry is evident through his extensive involvement in KLA and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA). A Kansas State University alum, he brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Troy Sander, the newly elected President-elect, brings his rich background in cattle feeding and operations management to the forefront. As the Chief Operations Manager for Heritage Beef, Sander's experience spans across multiple states and roles, from animal health manager to operations oversight.
A Fort Hays State University graduate, his 25-year tenure with KLA and contributions at both state and national levels showcase his commitment to the cattle industry.
Together, Weltmer and Sander will lead KLA's 5,700 members, focusing on legislative and regulatory advocacy for the livestock business. Their combined expertise and leadership promise to drive forward the association's mission in representing and advancing the state's livestock industry.
KLA, a key trade organization representing livestock business interests, is shaping policies and practices in Kansas and beyond. With its member-driven approach, the association's new leadership, with diverse backgrounds and a shared vision, is set to make significant industry strides.
