The K-State College of Agriculture/KSRE Diversity Programs Office and K-State Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences, or MANRRS, Chapter have had an eventful spring 2024 semester thus far. Please join us in celebrating our past events and preparing for our upcoming activities.
In celebration of Women's History Month, the Diversity Programs Office and the K-State MANRRS chapter are hosting JohnElla Holmes, president and CEO of the Kansas Black Farmers Association, on March 5 to speak with the GENAG 210 — Human and Cultural Diversity in Agriculture class.
On March 6, the office will present during the Student Belonging and Inclusion College for a Day with Jardine Middle School. Also on March 6, K-State MANRRS will host a meeting about professionalism and conference preparation, sponsored by Kansas Soybean.
At 4:30 p.m. on March 19 in Town Hall of the Leadership Studies Building, Nikki Lang, lead for diversity, equity, and belonging at Bimbo Bakeries USA, will present the "Importance of Women in Agriculture and Industry." RSVP for the event.
Nineteen K-State MANRRS members will represent K-State during the 2024 National MANRRS Conference in Chicago, Illinois, March 20-23.
Finally, on March 28, we will host 120 students from Black Student Unions in the greater Kansas City Area for a JR MANRRS and BSU Agriculture Summit at K-State Olathe. The event will educate the middle and high school students about the opportunities at K-State and in agriculture. In addition to our upcoming events, the Diversity Programs Office and K-State MANRRS chapter had a positive and impactful February, Black History Month.
On Feb. 5-9, the K-State MANRRS chapter held a successful Spring 2024 MANRRS Week. Thanks to Cargill, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies for their partnership and sponsorship.
