Kansas State University's Department of Animal Sciences and Industry is excited to announce the 15th annual Animal Sciences Leadership Academy, scheduled for June 5-8.
This prestigious event, aimed at high school students in grades 9-12 with a keen interest in the livestock industry, is designed to develop future leaders in the field.
Applications are now open and will be accepted until April 15, accessible at asi.ksu.edu/KASLA.
Mike Day, the department head, emphasizes the academy's mission to cultivate young leaders and prepare them for successful careers within the livestock sector.
The academy offers an immersive educational experience, featuring workshops, industry tours, and mentorship opportunities with K-State animal science professors and industry experts.
The event, sponsored by the Livestock and Meat Industry Council, Inc., is a unique chance for students to gain in-depth knowledge of the agricultural industry and the challenges it faces.
Participants will engage in team-based activities, analyzing current industry events and developing educational presentations to share their insights.
The academy ensures a personalized learning experience by limiting its intake to 20 students, allowing for meaningful interaction with counselors, professors, and industry leaders.
While students are responsible for their transportation and a $50 reservation fee upon acceptance, the Livestock and Meat Industry Council, Inc. covers all other costs.
This year's academy promises to be an invaluable opportunity for aspiring young professionals to connect with peers, learn from experts, and explore potential careers in agriculture.
For those interested in shaping the future of the livestock industry, the Kansas State University Animal Sciences Leadership Academy represents a not-to-be-missed opportunity.
