Sunflower Summer Brings Fun to Kansas Attractions

By Scout Nelson

Kansas is gearing up for the return of the Sunflower Summer program, which will run from July 12 to August 3, 2025. Over 230 tourist attractions across the state are participating, offering something for everyone. From museums and historic sites to zoos, art centers, and arboretums, this year’s program aims to showcase the best that Kansas has to offer.

Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland expressed excitement about the program's impact. "With such a wide variety of exceptional attractions participating this year, Sunflower Summer continues to open doors for Kansas families to explore and connect with every corner of our state," Toland said. He also highlighted how the program benefits local economies by drawing visitors to main streets, museums, and other hidden gems across Kansas.

Kansas students from pre-K through 12th grade, including those in public, private, and homeschool settings, are eligible to participate. The program provides free one-time access to each participating attraction for students and one accompanying adult. Passes can be easily claimed through the free Sunflower Summer app and redeemed at the attractions.

Kansas Tourism Director Bridgette Jobe echoed the excitement, stating, “We’re thrilled to bring back Sunflower Summer for another year. This program is a wonderful celebration of the incredible experiences Kansas has to offer. The variety and quality of attractions participating this year truly are outstanding.”

Lindsborg, known for its rich cultural heritage, is contributing five local attractions to the program: Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum, Red Barn Studio Museum, Small World Gallery, Birger Sandzén Memorial Gallery, and Broadway RFD. A full list of participating attractions and additional program details can be found online.

Sunflower Summer continues to be a key initiative for connecting Kansas residents to the state’s diverse cultural and historical offerings. The program not only enriches the lives of students and families but also supports local tourism and economies.
