FFA honors Kierra Eck for livestock expertise

By Scout Nelson

During the 96th annual Kansas FFA Convention held from May 29 to 31 on the campus of Kansas State University, Kierra Eck of the Russell FFA Chapter distinguished herself by winning first place in the Diversified Livestock Production Proficiency area.

This proficiency category challenges participants to apply the best management practices to efficiently produce and market a variety of animals from two or more livestock-related areas.

The areas covered under this proficiency include a wide range from beef, dairy, sheep, and swine to equine, goat, specialty animal, poultry, and small animal production and care. Eck's achievement highlights her comprehensive knowledge and skill in managing multiple types of livestock effectively.

Kierra was joined by other notable finalists including Maggie Bohl from the Ellsworth FFA Chapter and Lora Larison from the Holton FFA Chapter, who also showcased strong performances in the same category.

The Diversified Livestock Production Proficiency Award recognizes FFA members who excel in their ability to develop and implement a plan for managing diverse livestock operations, proving their capability in both production and marketing aspects of agricultural management.

Eck’s victory at the convention not only represents personal achievement but also sets a benchmark in livestock management excellence for her peers.
