Kansas CattleWomen (KCW), in collaboration with the Kansas Livestock Foundation, has awarded $1,000 scholarships to seven deserving students from Kansas. These scholarships aim to support the recipients' pursuit of higher education in the field of agriculture.
Katherine Bruning from Geneseo, daughter of Wade Bruning and Ginger Webb, will begin her freshman year at Barton Community College, where she plans to study animal and veterinary science. Carly Dreher, hailing from Iola and the daughter of Jerry and Cathy Dreher, will also be a freshman, enrolling at Butler Community College to pursue studies in agribusiness.
Among the scholarship recipients, five students have been accepted into Kansas State University as freshmen named as:
- Rachel Donaldson, daughter of Stephanie and Bruce Donaldson from Berryton, will embark on her academic journey in animal sciences and industry.
- Riley Showalter, daughter of Troy and Mary Beth Showalter from Wakarusa, will study agribusiness.
- Carissa Sohm, daughter of Rebecca and Gregory Sohm from Rolla, has chosen to specialize in agronomy.
- Kena Sterling, daughter of Sam and Shannon Sterling from Pratt, will delve into the field of agribusiness.
- Sage Toews, daughter of Flint and Alice Toews from Canton, will focus her studies on agricultural economics.
These scholarships are made possible by the funds raised through the KCW Silent Auction, a significant event held during the annual Kansas Livestock Association Convention in Wichita. By supporting students pursuing degrees in dietetics, food safety, agriculture, or related fields, KCW and the Kansas Livestock Foundation strive to promote education and foster the development of the next generation of professionals in the agricultural industry.
The recipients of these scholarships represent the future leaders and contributors to the agricultural landscape in Kansas. Through their academic pursuits and dedication to their chosen fields, they embody the spirit of innovation and progress in the agricultural sector.
