Kansas department of agriculture seeks marketing advisory board members

By Scout Nelson

The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) is inviting talented Kansans to join its Marketing Advisory Board. This initiative aims to bolster agricultural advocacy, marketing, and outreach efforts across the state.

The mission of the KDA Division of Marketing is to serve all Kansans through innovative programs that foster growth and expansion in agriculture, while increasing pride and awareness of the state's largest industry.

The Marketing Advisory Board will play a crucial role in advising the KDA program team on various topics.

These include agricultural business development, international agricultural development and trade, the From the Land of Kansas trademark program, local foods and affiliated programs, agricultural workforce development, and agricultural education.

By addressing these areas, the board will help create an environment conducive to agricultural advancement.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply by submitting a resume, a statement of interest or cover letter, and a tax clearance confirmation PDF. Applications should be emailed to Russell Plaschka, Director of Marketing, at Russell.Plaschka@ks.gov. More details about the board and the application process can be found on the KDA website at www.agriculture.ks.gov/MarketingAdvisoryBoard. For further inquiries, Russell Plaschka can be reached at 785-564-7466.

Applications are due by August 1, 2024. The first meeting of the new term for the Marketing Advisory Board is scheduled for Thursday, September 12, at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson.

This meeting will allow new board members to engage with the KDA team and begin their advisory roles.

Joining the Marketing Advisory Board offers a unique chance to contribute to the future of Kansas agriculture. Members will be involved in shaping policies and programs that support agricultural businesses, enhance international trade opportunities, and promote local foods.

They will assist in developing the agricultural workforce and educating the public about the importance of agriculture in Kansas.

By serving on the board, members will help ensure that Kansas remains a leader in the agricultural sector. This is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about agriculture to make a meaningful impact on the state's largest industry.

The KDA looks forward to welcoming new members who are dedicated to driving agricultural growth and innovation.

If you are passionate about Kansas agriculture and want to make a difference, consider applying for the Marketing Advisory Board today. Your involvement can help shape the future of agriculture in Kansas, ensuring its continued success and prosperity.
