The Kansas Farm Bureau (KFB) is all set to launch its high-energy meeting season in 2024, emphasizing the importance of grassroots involvement in the agricultural sector. The season begins with the County Presidents Conference on January 16 in Topeka, a forum for county leaders to exchange ideas and enhance leadership skills.
The Day at the Statehouse event, scheduled for January 16-17, provides a platform for KFB members to engage with state legislators and advocate effectively for agricultural issues. This event equips members with the necessary skills to represent KFB's stance to elected officials.
Another highlight is the Young Farmers and Ranchers Leaders Conference, slated for February 2-4 at the Manhattan Conference Center. This conference is particularly geared towards the under-35 demographic in agriculture, offering a mix of learning, networking, and socializing. It’s a vital gathering for young agricultural professionals to connect and share experiences.
The apex of the meeting season is the semi-annual LEAD (Leaders Engaged and Acting in D.C.) trip to Washington D.C., from February 26-29. Participants will engage in briefings on national issues, visit Capitol Hill, and interact with congressional delegates.
This trip, coinciding with discussions on a new farm bill, offers a unique insight into governmental proceedings and the opportunity to lobby for key agricultural issues.
Attendees of the D.C. trip will also enjoy tours of the city's landmarks, a night tour of the monuments, and an NHL game. Options to extend the stay for personal exploration are available.
These events, spanning January and February, are not just educational but also crucial in demonstrating the active engagement of KFB members to legislators. Participation in these events strengthens the community's voice in shaping agricultural policies.
