Kansas Soybean Contests Reward Top Farmers

Kansas Soybean Contests Reward Top Farmers

The annual Kansas Soybean Yield and Value Contests, hosted in the state, are more than a mere competition. They serve dual purposes - applauding exemplary soybean farmers and motivating others to raise their farming standards. This initiative doesn't just uplift individual farmers, but it amasses invaluable data that can guide and benefit the entire Kansas soybean farming community.

Eligibility is broad - any Kansas soybean grower or those associated with farming can participate without any entry fee. But there's a catch! Only one entry from each field is allowed. While farmers have the freedom to enter multiple categories in the yield contest, they're restricted to one entry per district. The value contest welcomes a singular entry from each individual.

Participants can choose from four contest categories, which are:

• Conventional Dryland

• No-till Dryland

• Conventional-till Irrigated

• No-till Irrigated

Importantly, the dryland categories get further subdivided into eight districts. The choice of district depends upon the location of the field and not the farmer’s home address.

With a submission deadline of Dec. 1, the results are eagerly awaited and will be unveiled at the Kansas Soybean Expo, with support from the Kansas Soybean Commission and Kansas Soybean Association. The initiative acknowledges Kansas State University Research & Extension and AGP for their unwavering support. No-Till on the Plains provides special prizes.

For a comprehensive understanding and to get involved, potential participants can check the detailed 2023 Kansas Soybean Contest Rules and Guidelines here.
