Swine enthusiasts, mark your calendars! Kansas State University's (K-State) Swine Day is happening on Thursday, Nov. 16. This day is super special for everyone who's interested in pigs. It's all about sharing the newest research on swine that K-State has been working on. This includes stuff like what pigs eat, how to make sure they're healthy, and more.
Mike Tokach, a top professor at K-State, says this day is super important. “Every year, we gather people from all over to share and learn about the newest stuff in the swine world. This year is extra special because there’s a tech trade show starting at 8 a.m. where more than 30 companies will show off their newest gadgets for pig farming.
Wayne Cast, a knowledgeable expert on feeding pigs, will share his experiences in the afternoon for those interested in nutrition.
This year, K-State is starting a new program just for high schoolers. It's called the K-State Swine Day Student Edition. Mike Tokach explains, “This program lets young folks learn about all the awesome jobs in the pig industry. They’ll get to see how technology is changing things, take a virtual tour, and even chat with college students who love studying pigs.”
