Kansas Wheat is a nonprofit organization that represents wheat growers in the state of Kansas. The organization is thanking the USDA for announcing new funding on Oct. 24, 2023, that will increase global food assistance and expand global market access for wheat growers.
The funding will be used to support two programs: the Food for Progress program and the Regional Agricultural Promotion Program (RAPP). The Food for Progress program provides food assistance to developing countries. The RAPP provides targeted technical assistance for exporters to break into new markets and increase market share in growth markets.
Kansas Wheat CEO Justin Gilpin said that the funding is important for wheat growers because it will help to expand their markets and reach new customers. He also said that the funding will help to ensure that the United States remains a global leader in providing food assistance to those in need.
Kansas Wheat is grateful for the USDA's new funding and looks forward to working with the USDA and other partners to ensure that the funds are used effectively.
