Seasons of Farming Photo Contest

Seasons of Farming Photo Contest

By Scout Nelson

The Kansas Department of Agriculture has announced the opening of entries for its annual photo contest. This event invites photographers to capture the spirit and beauty of agriculture across the state. Entries will be accepted until August 16, offering enough time for participants to submit their best work.

The contest includes categories based on the four seasons of agriculture. These include Spring into the Fields, Life in the Summer, Fall on the Farm, and Winter at Work. These themes highlight agricultural activities throughout the year, from planting and growing to harvesting and working in cold conditions. Participants can present unique perspectives showing how agriculture changes with each season.

There is also a Youth division for participants aged 18 and under. In addition, a video category allows for short clips under 30 seconds, including drone footage and harvest scenes. This provides more creative opportunities for participants to showcase agriculture.

Winners will be selected in each category, with the top two entries receiving prizes. Selected photos may also be used by the department in promotional materials such as social media, websites, and publications, helping share the story of agriculture with a wider audience.

Participants must submit photos in .jpg format and videos in .mp4 or .mov format via email to KDA.PhotoContest@ks.gov. Each entry should include a title, description, location, date, photographer details, category, hometown, and email address.

Complete contest guidelines, categories, and prize details are available online here.

Voting for finalists will begin in mid-August on official social media platforms. This contest provides a great chance to celebrate agriculture through creativity and storytelling.
