The 2025 Kansas Soybean Yield and Value Contests made history with new records, strong performances, and a growing number of high-yield achievements across the state. After a challenging growing season, harvest results showed impressive progress in soybean production. This year, 63 total entries were submitted, including 36 for value analysis and 37 for yield placement, reflecting strong interest in learning and friendly competition.
A new statewide yield record of 144.5 bushels per acre marked a major highlight of the contest. Another standout result was the dryland winning yield of 111.7 bushels per acre, which also qualified for the 100 Bushel Club. The value contest featured a top premium of $1.10 over cash value, showing the strong market potential of high-quality soybeans.
The 100 Bushel Club continues to recognize progress in Kansas for soybean production. Since the first 100-bushel achievement in 2017, participation has grown steadily. This year, six entries reached the 100-bushel mark, including both new qualifiers and repeat members. The club represents a milestone for growers working to improve yield and efficiency through careful management practices.
The contests also provide learning opportunities. Published results include inputs, row width, seeding rates, and regional comparisons. This information helps participants understand what practices support strong yields and what strategies may be useful in their own operations. Each entry offers insight into how different regions adapt to weather, soil and management challenges.
Results are organized by the tillage method, irrigation type, and region. Statewide irrigated categories reported several yields above 100 bushels, while dryland regions also recorded strong performances across Northeast, North Central, East Central, Southeast, South Central and Northwest regions. The value contest ranked entries based on premiums determined from protein, oil content, and other quality traits.
Winners will be recognized at the Kansas Soybean Celebration on January 30 in Salina. The event is supported by the Kansas Soybean Commission, Kansas Soybean Association and corporate and research partners who help conduct the annual contest.
